The U.S. monthly international trade deficit increased in August 2015 according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis and the U.S. Census Bureau. The deficit increased from $41.8 billion in July (revised) to $48.3 billion in August, as exports decreased and imports increased.
U.S. factories do their part to keep the U.S. economy humming. Did you know that manufacturing accounts for 12 percent of overall U.S.
State personal income grew 0.9 percent on average in the second quarter of 2015, after growing 0.8 percent in the first quarter. Personal income grew in every state except Oklahoma in the second quarter. In the first quarter, personal income grew in 34 states.
The U.S. net international investment position was -$6,688.3 billion (preliminary) at the end of the second quarter of 2015 as the value of U.S. liabilities exceeded the value of U.S. assets. At the end of the first quarter of 2015, the net investment position was -$6,801.4 billion (revised).
Personal income increased 0.3 percent in August, after increasing 0.5 percent in July. Wages and salaries, the largest component of personal income, rose 0.5 percent in August after rising 0.6 percent in July.

Real gross domestic product (GDP) increased 3.9 percent in the second quarter of 2015, according to the “third” estimate released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. The growth rate was revised up 0.2 percentage point from the “second” estimate released in August.
